Well well well, It's certainly been a while ....
So just what has been happening ? well quite a few things. I did make it to the USA and had a fantastic Christmas there and a brilliant new years, even though I did get stuck a few extra days more than I intended thanks to copious amounts of snow *sigh*. Things got a little busier in both worlds and that kept me away from this little blog but I still remained in weird and wonderful world of a nerd.
Sadly I did see the end of a relationship, it had been fun and amazing but it's with sadness it came to an end, but I wasn't bitter or angry then and I'm still not now, it was an amazing point in my life which I will treasure and a relationship I'm thankful for. Things moved on and we went our separate ways, and I grew from it all and I have to admit I'm a better person today.
Several months later and here I am, I'm in a new relationship and the world of a nerd has never been busier, especially with all the games, books and movies that have been released over the months, everything from new Star Wars books to Destiny & Sniper Elite 3, oh and getting a new job.
I will have to expand on all these in up coming post's, but this one is just to touch base for now and to show the world that I'm back in action and despite the rumours of my assimilation, they have been greatly over exaggerated .
Allot happens in my world, allot fantastic some bad and some just Meh, but will continue to chronicle them here ..... after all no day is the same in the weird and wonderful world of a nerd.

A stitch in time ..... Hurts my head
So it has been a while since I sat down with my keyboard, a cup of coffee as my sweet angel sleeps and written a blog. It's been a strange few weeks to say the least, lots of high points and a big low one, but the low point isn't really something for a blog. It's funny how a day evolves in my world, how some things remain the same and others are just completely wild, it's what makes life interesting and unpredictable I guess, but even when things seem dull it's also exciting at the same time. For example one minute your listening to music, loosing yourself in the melody of a soft tune and picturing a world of so many wonders unseen by the rest of the world as they have been created by you, the next your grooving in your seat and singing as loud as you can ... and if your me completely out of tune... to something like Sweet Home Alabama. Unpredictability .... so much fun.
However what was predictable was the awesomeness that was the Doctor Who 50Th Anniversary special which aired on Nov 23rd in over eighty countries simultaneously, in regular, HD and 3D as well as being shown in 3D in Cinemas .... what an event for a TV Show ...... well actually lets step back, not juts a TV show, the longest running Science Fiction TV show in television history with more fans than Star Trek and Star Wars Combined..... that should tell you something. And of course it's that awesome ... it's British sci-fi ...... ok that's enough patriotism for now.
The Day of the Doctor, which featured the return of David Tennant and Billie Piper and with special guest star John Hurt as "The War Doctor" saw an audiance of over 12 million, thats not counting those who recorded it to watch the next day or tuned in to watch it online via the BBC and BBC America Website ... wow huh ? The Day of the Doctor was certainly a thrill-seeking ride with sweeping shots of London much like in The Bells of Saint John. If fans were calling for a Doctor Who film then this is it. The Day of the Doctor celebrates not only all that is Doctor Whobut all that is British. The show is quintessentially British and everything is celebrated. It is all richly interwoven.
Saying this, the episode was more for the fans than the casual viewer. While it is certainly a lavish production with a raft of special effects, it is somewhat alienating (if you’ll pardon the phrase) for someone who has not seen the show before. The location captions are tries to provide clarity but it is not enough.
But putting the casual viewers to one side, this hit the spot for fans. It satisfies the needs of the fans and feeds their hunger, as well as consolidating some of the show’s mythology. When the show was brought back in 2005 it was said that the Doctor was the last of the Time Lords and this episode addresses all of that and the 16 year gap when the show was off the air which was great.
I loved the references from the original Sixties intro to the fourth Doctor’s scarf. Tom Baker comes back right at the end and it is a delicious little addition and well played on Steven Moffat’s part. While the inclusion of all the incarnations – including Peter Capaldi’s Doctor-in-waiting – saving Gallifrey was magical. It was one of my favourite reveals and ties 50 years ofDoctor Who past and present together.
Watching the tenth and the eleventh Doctor on screen was rather marvellous and what we’ve all been waiting for. They poke fun at one another and it is great to watch. Tennant is straight off the mark and it’s like nothing has changed, it is wonderful to see him return. They bounce off each other and have a strong dynamic, diverging at some points in their performance and at other times playing it the same, But it is John Hurt who steals the show. He channels William Hartnell’s Doctor who is a grumpy, irritable old man. He is so watchable and not at all what we thought he was going to be. There is so much sympathy for him. There is also some great chemistry between Hurt’s incarnation and Billie Piper’s ethereal interface character.
We were given a slightly eccentric performance from Piper. She is a woman grown and not at all like Rose Tyler, Piper plays it like Suranne Jones’ version of the Tardis in The Doctor’s Wife. She is oddball and off-the-wall in her performance. She gives a mature turn that redeems those who did not like Rose Tyler. Overall it is 75 minutes of crazy, fantastical Doctor Who and a fitting tribute for fans, so if you are a fan and still haven't watched it ...... WATCH IT!!!!!!!!!!
Well with the Doctoe Who stuff safely out of the way, the other things happening in the Weird and wonderful world of a nerd are vast and varied, for instance, the world of Star Wars The Old Republic saw it's newest digital expansion released for free "Galactic Starfighter".
The new content has been opened for Subscribers only and includes 12v12 PvP dogfighting where experience can be earned to unlock new weapons and powers to customise the ships. BioWare Austin’s Jeff Hickman had this to say about the launch. “We are so excited for players to experience all the incredible new content in Galactic Starfighter, while still gaining additional XP and credits to give their ground game characters a boost. Free-flight space combat is a feature the fans have been asking for, and Galactic Starfighter really delivers on that feeling of heart-pounding fast-paced dogfighting action that you expect in a Star Wars game.”
Anyone can take out a subscription now and jump into the action otherwise the content won’t unlock for “Preferred Status Players” until 14 January. The general public will have to wait until 4 February. Ouch!
I have to admit I’m actually seriously impressed with this expansion and can foresee many many many tired, coffee stimulated hours playing this :D
So with this now being my longest blog to date .....

A nerd walks into a bar ...
So the last few days have been extremely interesting and not to mention more fun than anything. As usual my ... less than normal .. friends have done their usual in sending me the daily fail of the regular YouTube, Weird News and crazy idea links of the day and as usual most of them turn out to be completely and utter boredom makers however one or two come through that really shine and they usual have the effect of giving me a good giggle, Such as this one, Yes it is just a long line of fart jokes but it is very well done, I have to admit I probably giggled more than I should have to this one, but what can I say, A: I'm a nerd B: have a weird sense of humour and C: ....... well I will have to get back to you later on that one, but for now it made me giggle and thats enough.
So right now I'm just settling in with my amazingly fantastic girlfriend, we have just finished watching Monsters University together and we both agree the first one was way better, the last few days we have spent together have been really amazing, although if I'm honest, every single day with her is more amazing than the last, she makes the world shine.
We recently took a trip to a Second Life version of Disney World which I have to admit I enjoyed way more than I should, I think it may have been more due to my angels excitement and enjoyment of the day than mine, and yes .... I wore the ears, and there is photographic evidence >.<
The rest of the day was one of colours and magic as we hit the beach, snuggled under the setting sun, tried to have a meal at the Pixel Pot but that didn't really get anywhere and then I thought I might surprise her with gifts of clothes shopping. The entire day was magical and amazing and I am never going to forget it.
There hasn't really been much else going on in the world of this nerd, Finally got my router somewhat fixed and managed to keep it going about thirty eight hours at the time of writing this, and that's about it really except for odd videos, great music and making amazing memories, and karma being the son of a Sith that it is will probably bite me in the ass one way or another probably with random program crashes, corrupted files or spilling my precious coffee yet again >.<, So for now I'm going to close out and snuggle up to my angel and see if Karma strikes me tonight, that's the way it goes in the Weird and Wonderful world of a nerd ...

The next doctor ...
There was a big debate on who the next person to play Doctor Who was, and it was a big surprise when Peter Capaldi was announced, and as always their were mixed reviews. I for one am on the pro side for Peter Capaldi, we need an older Doctor again, but then saying that I still firmly believe that the next Doctor Who should be ... well.. Me, obviously!. And you know I would give it the flare of David Tennant, the intensity of Christopher Eccleston, the Weirdness of Tom Baker and the subtlety of John Pertwee. And thanks to the BBC and Facebook I was able to go in and get a glimpse of what it would be like to at least be in the opening Credits "Vote for Esva as the Doctor" and Yeah I make this look good.
For now though I am quite happily relaxing while working in Adobe After Effects, Talking to the sweet amazing love in my life, writing this blog oh and dodging fish thanks to a good friend of mine Kcee... it's a good thing I'm multi talented and can multi task other wise I would break after effects and take a fish to the face >.<, but when all is said and done it's o.k because I will just toss a bucket of water over her, and I will make sure it is icy cold too.
The rest of the day will be a relaxing one, until I have to go and DJ that is, it's a fun little thing I like to do for a few hours on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at Canyon Country inside of Second Life, it's good to just hang out with friends spin some tunes and have a giggle, and then I'm not sure what I am going to do because my sweet amazing angel will be at work and I will have nothing to do. I may feed my nerd side with some defiance or classic Battlestar Galactica, cause at heart I'm just a nerdy Viper pilot, and yes I am of the opinion that the reboot of Battlestar Galactica sucked big time, but oh well.
Will just have to wait and see what will happen in the Weird and Wonderful world of a nerd ...
It's cold outside, there's not kind of atmosphere ...
So today is a strange one, I went to bed absolutely drained but woke up about four hours later feeling completely refreshed, This could prove interesting. however as usual when writing these blogs I'm tightly snuggled up with my sweet and amazing girlfriend and counting down the moments until she wakes up and we can begin the day together, and for some unknown reason I can't seem to nail down a specific thing to really bitch, whine, complain, or praise in today's blog, It is definitely going to be on of those days.
For now though I think that a high dose of caffeine is needed, and my dog has just walked in demanding that I give her attention and food and if I don't obey I will be in for it later, just another day in the Weird and Wonderful world of a nerd ...

A network by any other name ...
Me and my network are at WAR!
So for those outside of England you probably haven't heard of a company called B.T, it's the main communications carrier in England, phone, internet Etc Etc Etc Etc. Now sadly where I live Fibre Optic broadband is a dream so I am stuck with the bog standard broadband services. And after recently moving back home and having had good dealing's with B.T in the past I decided to go back with them.... what a mistake.
I have never had so many drop outs of my service in such short a space of time, it's infuriating. Their so called HomHub4 which they claim has the lowest drop out rate of any hardware currently on the market is quite frankly a load of BS, so I have to play internet connection roulette with it on a daily basis... roll on Virgin Media and Fibre Optic Broadband with its glorious 120mb internet connections, can't wait.
Anyway on the lighter side of the weird and wonderful world of a nerd, I have been feeding my nerd side mostly with some Star Trek The Next Generation,
to which I soon passed out to for a few hours and woke up with to my surprise no headache but a major zombie thirst for coffee, now quite refreshed and buzzed on caffeine I find myself looking at yet another 3D Design tutorial for some random project I may take on to earn a little cash, who knows I might but then I might not as I don't really have the time to commit to a large project at the moment as I'm due to fly out to the states in about four weeks.
So for now I am quite happily snuggled in my Second Life bed with the woman who stole my heart as I listen to some really odd Irish guy explaining things a five year old could understand, if that five year old knew how to model in Autodesk Maya.
And I am actually loosing the will to live listening to this guy but I'm going to stick it out and see how it goes, maybe I will survive in this Weird and wonderful world of a nerd ...

An Origin point.....
Other than that, the day is starting off well, I have decided to throw myself into some mesh work, given that my amazing, beautiful girlfriend is off and busy dealing with the real world, I need something to distract me from missing her too much, so I figured work would be the best thing to do that, and of course my Nerd has started to show because what does any nerd do when he or she has access to pipes and cylinders when they are a big Star Wars freak ? Yeah you guessed it, I gave into my five year old self and started to make a lightsaber...
how original of me lol. It is something I probably wont finish, as with some people who write, or paint they usually let their mind just go blank and create something out of thin air until inspiration strikes, although for me all I can think about at the moment is creating either a Pod Racer or a Set of Jedi Robes... again, so original right ?
So with my mind thinking of galaxies "Far Far Away ..." I can foresee some hardcore Star Wars Nerding in my future, which reminds me I still need to download the rest of Star Wars The Old Republic, Oh well I will get to it at some point, for now however I'm more than content to be in Second Life, feeding my Nerd side and spending time with the most fantastic woman on the planet who herself is a complete nerd, I'm one lucky s.o.b, and I know it :D
So let the rest of the day unfold as it will and any more interesting things I will post about, after all there is always something interesting in the weird but wonderful world of a nerd .....
